Casa del Vínculo (Venezuela)

Weather…

The Casa del Vínculo is a historic house in the center of Caracas, closely linked to the life of Simon Bolivar. Located at the corner of Gradillas, it served as the residence for Bolivar and his wife, Maria Teresa Rodriguez del Toro, after their marriage in 1802. The name 'Vínculo' refers to a family entail (fideicommissum) of the Bolivar family that ensured the building's maintenance. Here, the Liberator spent some of his happiest private moments before his wife's death changed the course of his life. The original building was modified several times over the centuries and partially destroyed, but the foundations and some walls remained. Following extensive restoration work in 2010, it was reopened as a museum to commemorate the national hero's private life and the urban history of colonial Caracas.
