Arch of the Federation (Venezuela)

Weather…

The Arch of the Federation is a monumental triumphal arch in Caracas, located at the entrance of El Calvario Park. It was inaugurated on October 28, 1895, during the presidency of Joaquín Crespo, to commemorate the victory of the Federals in the Federal War (1859-1863). The structure was designed by Juan Hurtado Manrique, drawing inspiration from the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Standing approximately 22 meters high, the arch is adorned with allegorical reliefs and sculptures representing liberty and justice. A Latin inscription at the top reminds visitors of the importance of the federation for Venezuela. The arch serves not only as a military memorial but also as an urban landmark marking the transition from the city center to the historic hillside park. As a National Cultural Heritage site, it is a popular destination for photographers and history enthusiasts eager to learn about the nation's formative years.
