Governorate Palace (Vatican)

Weather…

The Governorate Palace is the administrative hub of Vatican City, housing the government of the state. The imposing building was constructed between 1927 and 1931 in an eclectic style, shortly after the state's founding via the Lateran Treaties. Located behind St. Peter's Basilica in the heart of the Vatican Gardens, it is the seat of the Cardinal President of the Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State. From here, all civil matters are administered, including the postal service, gendarmerie, museums, and health services. The architecture reflects the sovereignty and administrative independence of the city-state. In front of the palace lies a magnificent garden featuring the reigning Pope's coat of arms created from flowers. While not open to the public, the palace plays a central role in official state visits and diplomatic receptions.
