Ejido de Treinta y Tres is a town in the Treinta y Tres Department of Uruguay, located immediately to the west of the departmental capital, Treinta y Tres, separated from it by the Olimar River. Initially developed as a rural extension area of the capital, it has grown to become a distinct urban entity. Its name, 'Ejido', refers to the historical concept of communal land on the outskirts of a town, designated for agriculture or public use. Today, it is a predominantly residential town with a population closely linked to the nearby capital, where many residents work or attend school. The area's economy, like the rest of the department, is heavily influenced by agriculture, particularly cattle ranching and rice cultivation in the surrounding lands. The town has held the status of 'Villa' (town) since October 20, 1994. While it lacks the extensive commercial and administrative functions of the capital, it has a quieter, suburban lifestyle while benefiting from the immediate proximity to the amenities of Treinta y Tres.
