Zayed Port (United Arab Emirates)

Weather…

Zayed Port, officially inaugurated in 1972, is Abu Dhabi's oldest commercial maritime facility and played a pivotal role in the early economic growth of the emirate. Spanning 5.3 square kilometers, it features 21 berths that historically handled the majority of the city's container and general cargo traffic. Following the launch of the highly automated Khalifa Port in 2012, Zayed Port underwent a strategic transformation to focus on specialized cargo, Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) operations, and cruise tourism. It is now home to the world-class Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal, which has helped position the capital as a leading destination for international cruise lines. The port area also remains a spirited community hub, hosting the city's main fish market and traditional souqs. Its proximity to the heart of Abu Dhabi makes it a prime location for urban waterfront redevelopment projects. While modernizing its facilities, Zayed Port continues to preserve its identity as a vital link to Abu Dhabi's seafaring past. The port is named in honor of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the United Arab Emirates.
