Qasr Al Hosn (United Arab Emirates)

Weather…

Qasr Al Hosn is the oldest and most significant historical building in Abu Dhabi, regarded as the birthplace of the emirate. The complex consists of two primary structures: the Inner Fort (built around 1795) and the Outer Palace (constructed in the 1940s). The site's history began around 1761 with the construction of a watchtower made from coral stone and lime mortar to protect a precious freshwater source. Later, the fort served as the residence of the ruling Al Nahyan family and the seat of government. In the 2010s, the complex underwent extensive restoration and reopened in 2018 as a museum documenting Abu Dhabi's history, from fishing and pearl diving to the modern metropolis. The building stands in sharp contrast to the surrounding skyscrapers, preserving traditional Emirati architecture. Exhibits include archaeological finds and historical documents. Qasr Al Hosn hosts an annual cultural festival that celebrates the region's rich heritage.
