Akyaka
Akyaka is a photogenic 'Slow City' located at the end of the Gulf of Gökova. It is distinguished by its unique architecture, featuring intricate woodwork inspired by traditional Ula houses. The town is split between the chilly, crystal-clear Azmak River and the windy beach, which has become a world-class destination for kiteboarding. The Azmak River is the heart of the village, where visitors take boat tours to see the underwater flora or enjoy a cold dip. Along the riverbanks, numerous restaurants serve fresh trout and local delicacies in a serene setting. Akyaka attracts those looking for an authentic Turkish experience away from the neon lights of larger resorts. The town is about an hour's drive from Dalaman Airport. Summer is the peak for kitesurfers due to the consistent thermal winds, while spring is well-suited for nature lovers and birdwatchers. The combination of pine forests, mountains, and the turquoise gulf makes it a truly special location.
