💡 Tips
- Take the first cable car in the morning to avoid the crowds and long queues for the Rotair revolving cable car.
- Check the live webcam before you go up. If there's heavy cloud cover, the view from the summit will be zero.
- Wear warm clothing in layers, even in summer. It's always cold and windy at over 3,000 meters.
- For the best view in the Rotair cable car, try to secure a spot by the window as soon as you get in. The cabin rotates, but the window spots are unbeatable.
- The Glacier Cave is carved from solid ice and can be very slippery. Wear shoes with good grip.
🍽 Food
Try this hearty Swiss alpine macaroni and cheese at the self-service restaurant on the summit. It's excellent for warming up.
A Swiss classic available at the mountain restaurants. Simple but filling.
Treat yourself to a rich hot chocolate at one of the summit restaurants while admiring the alpine view.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
One of the world's highest-altitude watch shops is located on the Titlis summit. Have a look, even if it's just window shopping.
Buy some authentic Swiss chocolate from the souvenir shop. It's a classic gift that's always a winner.
Escape the crowds inside the mountain. The blue-tinged ice tunnel provides a quiet and otherworldly experience.
Step out onto the viewing platform, take a deep breath of crisp mountain air, and quietly enjoy the remarkable 360-degree view of the Alps.

Mount Titlis is the highest accessible peak in Central Switzerland at 3,238 meters. The journey begins in the monastery village of Engelberg and leads via the Stand middle station to the summit. The highlight is the 'Titlis Rotair,' the world's first rotating cable car, which spins 360 degrees during the five-minute ascent, giving all passengers a full panoramic view. Upon reaching the top, visitors enter a fascinating glacier world where snow is guaranteed even in mid-summer. Adrenaline seekers head for the 'Titlis Cliff Walk,' Europe's highest suspension bridge at 3,041 meters, which gives spectacular views into the depths below. Another highlight is the glacier cave, a 150-meter-long tunnel situated 20 meters below the glacier's surface. The 'Ice Flyer' chairlift safely carries visitors over deep glacier crevasses to the Snow Park, where snow tubing is available even in summer. Several mountain restaurants offer dining with a view, from panoramic terraces to serviced specialty restaurants. Engelberg itself is a well-suited starting point and home to one of the largest ski areas in the region. Mount Titlis is a year-round destination, and on clear winter days, visibility can reach as far as the Black Forest in Germany. The trip from Lucerne via the Zentralbahn takes only about 45 minutes.
