Zurich
Zurich is the economic and cultural heart of Switzerland, located at the northern tip of Lake Zurich. The city has a history spanning over 2,000 years, tracing back to the Roman settlement of Turicum. Today, Zurich is globally recognized as a leading financial center, yet it also hosts prestigious educational institutions such as the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH). Geographically, the cityscape is shaped by the Limmat and Sihl rivers and the surrounding hills like the Uetliberg. The Old Town on both sides of the Limmat is rich in historical buildings, including the Grossmünster with its distinctive twin towers and the Fraumünster Church featuring the famous Chagall windows. Zurich features an exceptionally high quality of life and a dense cultural landscape, ranging from the opera house and numerous museums like the Kunsthaus to lively districts such as Zurich-West.
