Adliswil is located in the lower Sihl valley, immediately south of the city of Zurich, and has developed into a significant economic center. The city is primarily known as a location for major insurance companies such as Generali and Zurich Insurance Group, which operate significant administrative centers here. A tourist highlight is the Adliswil Felsenegg cable car (LAF), the only one of its kind in the canton of Zurich, which transports visitors to the Albis ridge in a few minutes, offering a spectacular view of Lake Zurich and the Alps. Adliswil borders the Zurich Sihlwald Wilderness Park, the first protected nature park in Switzerland, which is an important local recreation area. The city has excellent connections to the Zurich S Bahn, making it very attractive for commuters. The architecture is characterized by a mix of historic industrial buildings, reminiscent of the former textile industry, and modern residential developments. Cultural life is enriched by numerous clubs and regular events such as the Adliswil fair. Despite its proximity to the metropolis of Zurich, Adliswil has maintained an independent identity and a high quality of life.
