The Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park in the province of Jaén is the largest protected area in Spain and one of the largest in Europe. The park is the birthplace of the Guadalquivir River, which begins at the spring of Cañada de las Fuentes. Its rugged terrain provides a spectacular variety of landscapes, from steep mountain peaks and deep canyons to vast forests of pine and oak. The region is known for its immense botanical diversity, with over 2,300 plant species, 24 of which are endemic, such as the Cazorla violet.
