Gansbaai

Gansbaai is a rugged fishing town that has gained worldwide fame as the shark-diving capital of the globe. Located on the edge of Walker Bay, it gives an unfiltered experience of the ocean's raw power. The main attraction is undoubtedly cage diving with Great White Sharks (and increasingly Bronze Whalers) at nearby Dyer Island. Beyond the thrills of shark diving, Gansbaai is also a top-tier destination for whale watching. From June to December, Southern Right Whales migrate to these waters to calve and mate. History buffs will enjoy exploring Klipgat Cave, an important archaeological site within the Walker Bay Nature Reserve that provided shelter to Stone Age humans thousands of years ago.
