US War Memorial

The U.S. War Memorial atop Skyline Ridge on Mount Austen is an imposing monument dedicated to the American servicemen who fought and died during the Guadalcanal campaign. Dedicated on August 7, 1992, the 50th anniversary of the Allied landings, the memorial features large red granite pillars and white concrete walls inscribed with the names of the divisions, regiments, and vessels involved in the conflict.
