Weather…

The Bicentennial Monument, commonly known as 'Twa Zwazo' (Three Birds), is a distinctive landmark in Victoria that symbolizes the ethnic diversity of the Seychelles. It was inaugurated in 1978 to mark the 200th anniversary of the founding of Victoria in 1778. The abstract artwork consists of three white wings representing the three continents from which the ancestors of the Seychellois originated: Africa, Europe, and Asia. The monument was designed by Italian artist Lorenzo Appiani, who was a resident of the Seychelles. The simple, white structure is set within a water feature at the roundabout of Freedom Avenue and 5th June Avenue. It serves as a constant reminder of the peaceful coexistence of the diverse cultures within the archipelago. Due to its central location, it is a key navigational landmark in the capital and a symbol of national pride and identity. The modern aesthetic of the monument formed a deliberate contrast to the colonial heritage of the city at the time of its construction.
