Petrăchioaia is a commune in the eastern part of Ilfov County, located roughly 20 kilometers away from Bucharest. The commune is composed of four villages: Petrăchioaia, Măineasca, Surlari, and Vânători, situated within the vast plains of Muntenia. Geographically, the area is crossed by the Mostiștea River, which has historically supported the local agricultural sector through irrigation and fishing. Documentary evidence of the settlement dates back to the 17th century, highlighting its role in the regional rural economy. One of the most significant historical landmarks is the Saint Nicholas Church in Măineasca, constructed in 1766, which is officially recognized as a historical monument.
