Periș is located in the northwestern part of Ilfov County, bordering Prahova County, and is traversed by the Ialomița River. Historically, the commune was well-known for its furniture industry, which flourished during the communist era and provided employment for many local residents. The region is characterized by remnants of the ancient Vlăsia Forests, which once covered most of the Wallachian Plain. The commune consists of three villages: Periș, Brătulești, and Bălteni, the latter being famous for the medieval church of the Bălteni Monastery, situated on a peninsula in a local lake. Its geographic location near the Bucharest-Ploiești highway makes it attractive for commuters today, while the surrounding nature provides opportunities for fishing and leisure. In recent years, Periș has evolved from a primarily agricultural and industrial center into a residential area that retains its rural charm.
