Muskau Park (Poland)

Weather…

Muskau Park (Fürst-Pückler-Park), stretching seamlessly across the border between Poland and Germany along the Neisse River, is perhaps the most extraordinary example of an English-style landscape park in continental Europe. Between 1815 and 1844, Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau, an eccentric nobleman and brilliant landscape architect, created this masterpiece through the artful shaping of nature. The park is characterized by sweeping, open meadows, majestic solitary trees, rolling hills, and artificial watercourses connected by elegantly curved bridges, creating endless, great visual axes. After being divided by the new state border in 1945 and falling into disrepair during the Cold War, the park was restored through an unprecedented bi-national effort and jointly declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004.
