Kalwaria Zebrzydowska (Poland)

Weather…

Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, often referred to as the 'Polish Jerusalem', is a wide-open Mannerist architectural and park complex positioned in the scenic foothills of the Beskids. This UNESCO World Heritage site was founded in 1600 by the Voivode of Kraków, Mikołaj Zebrzydowski, as a symbolic replica of Jerusalem, designed to make the story of Christ's Passion physically experiential. The vast complex encompasses a basilica, a Bernardine monastery, and 42 chapels beautifully integrated into the natural landscape, connected by winding paths over hills and streams. It is a holy site of profound spirituality and the destination of countless pilgrims who gather annually on Good Friday to participate in the poignant Passion plays, a centuries-old tradition.
