Konjuh Forest is a vast woodland in eastern North Macedonia, on the slopes of the Osogovo Mountains. It covers over 100 square kilometers and is one of the country's largest continuous forest ecosystems. The forest is mainly composed of beech and oak, with scattered pine stands. The area is known for its rich biodiversity, including brown bears, lynx, and chamois. Konjuh Forest also hosts several endemic plant species, such as the Osogovo cornflower. The forest plays an important role in soil formation and water conservation, as it is the source of many small streams. Historically, the area was known for charcoal production, which continued until the 19th century. Today, it is a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and foresters promoting sustainable forest management.
