The Fachi Rise is a prominent geological elevation situated within the Ténéré desert in central Niger. This region is characterized by its extreme isolation in one of the world's most arid landscapes, where the rising terrain serves as a vital navigational landmark for caravans engaged in the traditional salt trade. Geologically, the rise consists of Cretaceous sedimentary rocks that have been sculpted by wind erosion over millions of years. The nearby Fachi oasis, located approximately 240 kilometers east of the Aïr Mountains, is a crucial stop on the ancient Azalai trade route between Agadez and Bilma. The local inhabitants, primarily Kanuri and Tuareg people, have extracted salt and cultivated dates in the surrounding depressions for centuries. Despite the harsh climatic conditions with temperatures often exceeding 45 degrees Celsius, the formation remains a key geomorphological feature of the Chad Basin.

Extremely remote location; reaching this specific area absolutely requires a serious desert expedition with durable 4x4 vehicles, highly experienced drivers, and local guides starting from Agadez.
