Weather…

The Pieterskerk in Leiden is a late Gothic church with a history dating back to 1121, when it was established as a count's chapel. The current monumental structure was largely built during the 14th and 16th centuries and is dedicated to Saint Peter, the patron saint of Leiden. The church is deeply connected to the founding of Leiden University in 1575, having served for centuries as the venue for prestigious academic ceremonies and examinations. It holds significant international importance as the spiritual home of the Pilgrim Fathers, who lived near the church before their 1620 voyage to America. Their leader, John Robinson, is buried within its walls. The architectural design is noted for its expansive hall-like interior and elegant rib-vaulted ceilings. Since being decommissioned as a house of worship in 1971, Pieterskerk has evolved into a multifunctional cultural space hosting exhibitions, concerts, and university events, while preserving its identity as the 'Good Room' of Leiden.
