Madurodam is a world-famous miniature park located in the Scheveningen district of The Hague, which opened its doors to the public on July 2, 1952. The park was established as a monument to George Maduro, a Dutch law student who fought bravely in the resistance and died in Dachau concentration camp in 1945. It features highly detailed 1:25 scale replicas of famous Dutch landmarks, historical cities, and large infrastructure projects. Beyond its visual appeal, Madurodam serves a philanthropic purpose, donating its proceeds to various youth charities through the Madurodam Children's Fund. Over the decades, the park has evolved from a static display into an interactive experience where visitors can operate storm surge barriers, load containers in the Port of Rotterdam, or take off from Schiphol Airport. The park covers an area of approximately 1.8 hectares and attracts hundreds of thousands of domestic and international tourists annually, playing a significant role in promoting Dutch heritage and engineering prowess.
