Tengboche Monastery (Nepal)

Weather…

Tengboche Monastery, situated at an altitude of 3,867 meters, is the largest and most important Tibetan Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It was founded in 1916 but had to be rebuilt twice, after an earthquake in 1934 and a devastating fire in 1989. The monastery provides a spectacular panoramic view of some of the world's highest peaks, including Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam, making it a popular destination for trekkers on their way to Everest Base Camp. Tengboche is an important venue for religious celebrations, especially the annual Mani Rimdu festival, a colorful event with masked dances and prayers that attracts hundreds of locals and tourists. The reconstruction efforts after the fire were funded by donations from around the world, underscoring the global significance of this spiritual center.
