Mount Namuli, standing at 2419 meters, is the second-highest mountain in Mozambique and a massive granite massif located in Zambezia Province. Geographically, it is part of a series of spectacular inselbergs that dominate the Gurué Highlands. The mountain's relief is characterized by extremely steep rock faces and a rugged summit plateau composed of Precambrian granite. Mount Namuli is globally recognized as a biodiversity hotspot, providing a sanctuary for numerous endemic plant and animal species, including the rare Namuli Apalis. The mountain's moist microclimate supports dense montane rainforests and unique heathland vegetation at higher elevations. Historically, the mountain holds deep spiritual significance for the Lomwe people, who revere it as their ancestral place of origin. The lower slopes of the massif host some of Mozambique's most vital tea plantations, flourishing in the rich volcanic soils and high annual rainfall of the region.
