Khujirt
Khujirt is Mongolia's premier wellness center, positioned in the scenic landscape of the Orkhon Valley. The town is famous for its sulfurous thermal springs and mineral-rich mud deposits, which have been used for decades to treat joint and skin ailments. The large Soviet-era sanatorium gives the place a unique, historical charm. Beyond spa treatments, Khujirt serves as a strategic base for expeditions to the Orkhon Waterfall and Tövkhön Monastery. The surroundings consist of rolling green hills and vast steppes where nomadic families graze their herds. It is a handy spot to experience Mongolian hospitality while regenerating both body and mind. Access from Ulaanbaatar takes about 6-7 hours on mostly paved roads. Khujirt is accessible year-round, with summer being the most popular time for hiking and horse riding trips. In local eateries, one must try 'Khuushuur', a traditional Mongolian deep-fried meat pastry, often prepared exceptionally fresh here.
