The Chișinău Botanical Garden was founded in 1950, but it has been at its current location in the Botanica district since 1973. Spanning 104 hectares, it houses over 10,000 species, subspecies, and varieties of plants from all over the world. The grounds are artistically landscaped, featuring artificial ponds, themed sections like the Rosarium and Syringarium, and broad avenues. A modern greenhouse complex allows for the cultivation of tropical and subtropical plants. The garden serves not only scientific research and the conservation of endangered species but is also a popular recreational area for the city's residents. Getting there
The extensive botanical garden is exceptionally well-connected to Chișinău's urban transport network and is very easy to reach. Visitors can conveniently utilize public transportation, local taxis, or personal vehicles to arrive at the main entrances of the facility.
Best season
Every season gives its own unique charms, though the blooming periods in spring and the colorful foliage in autumn are generally the most popular. Even during summer, the numerous mature trees provide ample shade for a comfortable walk along the paved paths.
Terrain & paths
The terrain of the park is mostly flat to gently rolling and features a well-developed network of paved and maintained walkways. This makes the entire facility highly accessible and pleasant for visitors of all ages, as well as for strollers and wheelchairs.
What to bring
For strolling through the expansive garden layout, comfortable, everyday footwear is entirely sufficient and appropriate. It is recommended to bring some drinking water, a camera for the diverse plant species, and light sun protection depending on the season.
Parking
Official parking spaces for visitors are usually available directly at the main entrances or in the immediate vicinity of the botanical garden. On busy weekends, however, it may sometimes be necessary to find alternative parking spots on nearby side streets.
Safety
The park is widely considered a very safe and well-maintained destination within the capital city, good for a relaxing visit. Visitors are politely requested not to stray from the marked paths and to avoid damaging or picking any of the valuable scientific plant collections.
Time needed
