Tigné Point is a peninsula located at the tip of Sliema, offering a fascinating blend of history and cutting-edge modern architecture. It is named after Fort Tigné, which was built by the Order of St. John in the late 18th century to defend the Grand Harbour from naval attacks. During the British rule, the site functioned as a military barracks before being transformed in the late 20th century into one of Malta's most exclusive residential and commercial developments. Today, Tigné Point is home to "The Point," the island's largest shopping mall, as well as luxury apartments and high-end office spaces. Despite the modern construction, the historic Fort Tigné has been restored and integrated into the surrounding landscape. The tip of the peninsula, historically known as "Dragut Point," provides an unparalleled view of Valletta's fortifications across Marsamxett Harbour. The district stands as a symbol of Malta's economic growth and is a popular destination for both residents and visitors.
