Seno is a small but strategically important town in Savannakhet Province in southern central Laos, about 35 kilometres east of the provincial capital Kaysone Phomvihane at the junction of National Routes 9 and 13. This places it directly on the East-West Economic Corridor linking the Thai border at Mukdahan with the Vietnamese port city of Da Nang, making it a key node for trucking and logistics. Historically Seno was marked by a large French and later Royal Lao military airfield that played a significant role during the Vietnam War. Today the town is best known for its food stalls of grilled chicken, sticky rice and tropical fruit, its small markets and the surrounding paddy fields and plantations along the busy international corridor.
