The Shah-Fazil Mausoleum in the village of Safid-Bulan is a premier example of 11th-century Karakhanid architecture within the Fergana Valley. Standing over 15 meters tall, this square brick structure possesses a stark exterior that contrasts sharply with its incredibly ornate interior. The inner walls are completely adorned with intricate stucco carvings and plasterwork, showcasing floral motifs and geometric patterns of exceptional quality. Researchers have documented more than 50 distinct Kufic inscriptions woven into the decorative fabric of the building. As a significant sacred site, it attracts numerous Muslim pilgrims who come to honor the memory of the ruler Shah-Fazil. The preservation of such delicate interior work for nearly a thousand years establishes this monument as one of Kyrgyzstan's most important historical and artistic treasures.
