Sulaiman-Too Sacred Mountain (Kyrgyzstan)

Weather…

Sulaiman-Too is a sacred mountain located in the center of the city of Osh in southern Kyrgyzstan. It rises abruptly from the Fergana Valley and has been a place of worship for Muslims and pre-Islamic believers for over a millennium and a half. The mountain is named after the Prophet Solomon, who, according to legend, is buried here or at least prayed in this location. Sulaiman-Too is home to numerous historical sites, including Bronze Age petroglyphs, ancient cult places, and caves associated with healing rituals. The mountain also features a mosque built in the 16th century and a modern historical museum constructed into one of its large caves. In 2009, Sulaiman-Too became the first site in Kyrgyzstan to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
