Seif Palace
The Seif Palace is the historic seat of the Kuwaiti monarchy and a cornerstone of the nation's political identity. Commissioned in 1904 by Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah, it was originally built to serve as the primary administrative and judicial hub of the state. The palace's architecture is a magnificent display of Islamic design, featuring intricate mosaics, ornate woodwork, and traditional arches constructed from local materials. Its most recognizable feature is the iconic clock tower, adorned with striking blue tiles and gold-plated trimmings, which has become a symbol of Kuwait City. Despite sustaining severe damage during the 1990 Iraqi occupation, the palace underwent extensive restoration to return it to its original grandeur. While the newer Bayan Palace now handles many functions, Seif Palace remains the official center for state ceremonies, diplomatic receptions, and royal audiences.
