San Vito lo Capo is located at the northwestern tip of Sicily in an easy on the eye bay between the Riserva dello Zingaro nature reserve and Monte Cofano. The town is world-famous for its approximately three-kilometer-long beach featuring fine white sand and crystal-clear, shallow waters that evoke Caribbean coastlines. The striking Monte Monaco towers over the bay, offering hikers a spectacular viewpoint over the entire cape. The town's architecture is defined by low white houses, giving it an almost North African feel. One of its main attractions is the Santuario di San Vito, a fortress-like church dating back to the 15th century. Every September, the town hosts the Cous Cous Fest, an international culinary event that celebrates Sicily's historical ties to the Arabic world, attracting chefs from across the Mediterranean. The surrounding area gives numerous opportunities for outdoor activities, from rock climbing on the limestone cliffs to diving at the Tonnara del Secco. Local cuisine is famous for fish couscous and the 'Caldo Freddo' dessert. San Vito lo Capo is best reached from Palermo or Trapani airports. The peak season is very busy in July and August, making June and September particularly suitable for a relaxed stay.
