Santa Flavia is located on the northern coast of Sicily, just a few kilometers east of Palermo. The municipality consists of several historic districts, including the important fishing port of Porticello. The townscape is characterized by 18th-century Baroque villas, once built as summer residences by the Palermo aristocracy. The coastline provides a mix of cliffs and small sandy beaches. The most famous sections include the rocky coves of Tre Piscine Cala del Cuore and Spiaggia dei francesi. For longer beach stays, Spiaggia dell'Aciddara, Spiaggia Kafara, and Spiaggia dell'Olivella are available, often providing clear water and views of the rocky surroundings. Above the town rises Mount Catalfano, a protected natural area. On one of its flanks lie the archaeological excavations of the ancient Greco-Roman city of Solunto. The local economy is still strongly tied to fishing, which is reflected in the daily fish markets and the traditional cuisine of the harbor restaurants.
