Trisul (India)

Weather…

Trisul is a prominent group of three Himalayan mountain peaks located in the western Kumaon Himalaya in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The highest peak, Trisul I, stands at an elevation of 7,120 meters and was first successfully climbed in 1907 by an expedition led by T.G. Longstaff. The name of the massif is derived from the 'Trishula', the trident of the Hindu god Shiva, as the three peaks resemble the shape of a trident when viewed from afar. The massif is situated near the Nanda Devi National Park and forms the western rim of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary. Climbing Trisul is considered a significant mountaineering feat, often involving technical ice climbing and enduring unpredictable high-altitude weather conditions. Geologically, the group is composed primarily of crystalline rocks such as granite and gneiss. The peaks hold great spiritual importance for the local people and are a central feature of the majestic landscape visible from the surrounding trekking routes.
