Kanha National Park is a true jewel of Central India's wilderness, known for its strict conservation measures. It is famous for its significant tiger population and for saving the Barasingha (swamp deer) from extinction. The landscape is characterized by vast grassy plains, dense Sal forests, and bamboo thickets. Visitors can take part in guided safaris in open jeeps to observe majestic Bengal tigers, leopards, and wild dogs. A special experience is the Bamni Dadar viewpoint, also known as Sunset Point, which provides a dramatic view of grazing animals against the setting sun. The lush flora and the silence of the forest make Kanha a spiritual nature experience. The Kanha Museum within the park provides insights into the ecosystem and the tribal culture of the region. Local gastronomy in the safari lodges often serves traditional meals made from regional ingredients. The park is best accessible from Nagpur or Jabalpur. The best time to visit is from November to May, with the months of March to May being well-suited for wildlife sightings. During the monsoon season from July to mid-October, the park remains closed to visitors.
