Polgár is a strategically located town in Hajdú-Bihar County, sitting at a vital crossroads in northeastern Hungary. The town gained international archaeological fame due to the excavations at Polgár-Csőszhalom, which revealed one of the most significant Neolithic settlements in Central Europe. To celebrate this heritage, the M3 Archeopark was established, offering a unique open-air museum experience where visitors can walk among reconstructed prehistoric dwellings and learn about daily life 7,000 years ago. Beyond its ancient roots, Polgár is a well-known destination for relaxation and health, featuring a thermal spa and beach complex that has utilized local medicinal waters since the mid-20th century. The town's economy has flourished thanks to its direct access to the M3 motorway, leading to the establishment of a modern industrial zone. Despite this industrial growth, Polgár retains its traditional character, centered around a Baroque Catholic church and neatly manicured public squares.
