Reopened in 2012 as a boutique hotel with just nine guest rooms, it retains many of its original features, including cannons, searchlights, and bullet holes from its law enforcement days. Perched on a hillside, the hotel commands memorable views of the Pearl River Delta and the traditional stilt-house village of Tai O. For its dedication to historical preservation, it was honored with a UNESCO award.
