Mühldorf am Inn, situated in Upper Bavaria, possesses a distinctive historical background as a Salzburg enclave within Bavarian territory for over half a millennium. This unique status ended in 1802 but left a lasting architectural legacy, most notably the 'Stadtplatz'. This town square is a premier example of the Inn-Salzach style, where houses feature high, decorative facades that extend above the rooflines, creating a unified and grand appearance. The city is also famous for the Battle of Mühldorf in 1322, considered one of the last major knightly battles on German soil. In the modern era, Mühldorf evolved into a vital railway junction in southeastern Bavaria, significantly boosting its economic standing. Today, it remains a bustling district capital that gives a high quality of life, combining its rich heritage with modern amenities and scenic surroundings along the Inn River, convenient for cycling and regional tourism.
