The park was originally established during the Soviet era in the 1930s and underwent a major reconstruction in 2009, which introduced modern attractions such as a 62-meter-high Ferris wheel. A dominant feature of the site is the 274-meter-tall Tbilisi TV Broadcasting Tower. Visitors typically access the park via the historic Funicular railway, which first opened in 1905 and covers a steep 500-meter track.
