Visiting
Marae Tefano on Huahine is freely accessible but hidden deep in the forest. The path is unpaved - sturdy footwear is required to reach the ruin.
Typical hours
The ruin can be visited anytime, but due to its remote location, only during daylight is recommended. No opening hours or entry fees apply.
Photography
Photography is allowed, especially the banyan tree growing into the stones is a popular subject. Do not use flash to avoid disturbing the natural scene.
Time needed
Allow about 30-45 minutes to reach and explore the site. The forest walk itself is an experience.

Combine the visit with a hike to nearby archaeological sites in the Fa'ahia Valley. The town of Fare with its market also gives a good break.
Getting there
The marae is on Huahine Island, about 15 minutes by car from Fare. A 4x4 is recommended as the access road is bumpy.
