Vanoise National Park (France)

Weather…

Vanoise National Park, established on July 6, 1963, is the first national park created in France. Located in the Savoie department in the Graian Alps, it directly borders the Gran Paradiso National Park in Italy, together forming a continuous protected area of over 1,250 square kilometers. The park was originally founded to protect the alpine ibex, which had been nearly hunted to extinction in the region. Today, it hosts not only ibex but also chamois, marmots, bearded vultures, and golden eagles. The landscape features more than 100 peaks exceeding 3,000 meters and extensive glaciers like the Parcher ice cap. The flora includes over 1,200 species, such as the rare alpine aster and lady's slipper orchid. A dense network of hiking trails and mountain huts makes the park a paradise for mountaineers, while strict regulations in the core zone ensure the preservation of alpine wilderness for future generations.
