At Méribel's Olympic ice rink, a venue of the 1992 Games, ice hockey matches and ice shows are regularly held throughout the winter season.
Méribel occupies a privileged position exactly in the middle of 'Les Trois Vallées', making it the convenient base for exploring the entire 600-kilometer ski network. The resort was founded in 1938 by British Colonel Peter Lindsay, who was determined to preserve the authentic Alpine charm. To this day, strict building codes mandate that only wood and stone chalets are constructed, making Méribel one of France's most aesthetically pleasing mountain resorts. It is particularly popular with families due to its wide range of slopes, yet still gives challenging terrain for experts near the Saulire peak. The blend of understated elegance, athletic opportunities, and a cozy atmosphere makes Méribel a timeless classic. In summer, the region transforms into a sanctuary for hikers and mountain bikers seeking the untouched beauty of the Vanoise massif.
