Monteux is a spirited town in the heart of Provence, located in the Vaucluse department. It is historically significant as part of the Comtat Venaissin, a former papal territory, with the medieval Tour Clémentine serving as a reminder of its storied past. The town holds a unique title as the pyrotechnics capital of France, home to world-renowned fireworks manufacturers and hosting a massive annual pyromusical show that attracts crowds from across the country. In recent years, Monteux has transformed into a major family tourism destination with the launch of the Beaulieu eco-district. This area features top-tier attractions like Parc Spirou Provence and the Wave Island water park. Despite this modern growth, Monteux remains deeply rooted in agriculture, particularly famous for its high-quality strawberries and melons grown in the fertile Carpentras plain. It provides a great blend of traditional Provençal culture, innovative leisure facilities, and a strong commitment to environmental preservation in its new urban developments.
