Malemort is a modern and bustling town in the Corrèze department, forming an integral part of the Brive-la-Gaillarde metropolitan area. The current municipality was established in 2016 following the merger of Malemort-sur-Corrèze and Venarsal. Geographically, it is situated in a fertile basin bisected by the Corrèze River. Historically, the area was significant during the Middle Ages, as evidenced by the ruins of the Malemort towers, which were once part of a formidable fortification system. During the 20th century, Malemort evolved into a major industrial and commercial hub, now hosting a wide range of businesses in logistics, metalworking, and the food industry. Despite this rapid economic development, the town has preserved its quality of life, offering numerous green spaces and high-quality sports facilities. Malemort serves as a vital link between the urbanized Brive zone and the more rural landscapes of eastern Corrèze.
