Chevilly-Larue, located in the Val-de-Marne department, serves an important logistical function south of Paris. Along with its neighboring town, the municipality hosts the majority of the MIN de Rungis, which is the world's largest wholesale market for fresh food by land area. The site is a major hub of nocturnal and early morning commercial trade. Away from the massive logistics halls, however, Chevilly-Larue provides wide residential streets and green spaces. The Parc Départemental Petit-le-Roy is the city's largest recreation area, frequently used for sports and leisure activities. Furthermore, the historic Roseraie du Val-de-Marne in neighboring L'Haÿ-les-Roses is just a short distance away, easily reached via the local tram network. In the old village center, the 15th-century stone church of Sainte-Colombe stands as evidence of the time when the settlement was a remote agricultural village. Various cultural facilities add layers to the identity of this modern suburban town.
