Located in the Val-de-Marne department, L’Haÿ-les-Roses owes its name and international fame to a single, extraordinary attraction: the Roseraie du Val-de-Marne. Created at the end of the 19th century by businessman Jules Gravereaux, it was the first public garden in the world dedicated exclusively to the cultivation and display of roses. Today, the beautifully landscaped grounds are home to over 3,000 different varieties of roses, including rare and historical species. During the peak blooming season in late spring and early summer, the garden erupts into a spectacular sea of color and intoxicating fragrance, drawing botanical enthusiasts and romantics from across the globe. Beyond this floral masterpiece, the town itself, situated in the Bièvre valley, maintains a quiet, leafy suburban atmosphere. In the historic center, visitors can find the welcoming 12th-century church of Saint-Léonard and several elegant manor houses. The town’s green character is further enhanced by the Parc de la Bièvre, offering pleasant walking paths along a stream that has recently been brought back to the surface. L’Haÿ-les-Roses provides a refined, fragrant escape, celebrating meticulous horticultural art just a short distance from the busy streets of Paris.
