Pierrefitte-sur-Seine is located in the Seine-Saint-Denis department, north of Paris. Historically a site for limestone quarrying, its name translates to 'fixed stone'. The city underwent a major cultural transformation with the 2013 opening of the French National Archives (Archives Nationales). This architectural landmark, designed by Massimiliano Fuksas, is one of the largest archival repositories in the world, holding national records dating from the French Revolution to the present. Geographically, Pierrefitte lies between the plain of France and the hills of Parisis, bordering the massive Parc Georges-Valbon (La Courneuve). The city is highly accessible via the Paris Metro Line 13 and the T5 tramway, facilitating its role as a key residential hub for the northern Paris area. Pierrefitte is committed to urban renewal, focusing on sustainable housing and the expansion of educational facilities to serve its diverse and growing community.
