Lacroix-Saint-Ouen is a growing town in northern France, situated in the Oise department within the Hauts-de-France region. The town enjoys a unique geographic setting, bounded to the west by the navigable Oise river and to the east by the vast Compiègne Forest, one of the most prestigious woodland areas in the country. Historically linked to the Abbey of Saint-Ouen in Rouen, the settlement evolved from a traditional fishing and farming village into a significant industrial hub during the 19th and 20th centuries, particularly noted for its chemical and plastics industries. Despite its industrial importance, Lacroix-Saint-Ouen maintains a strong identity as a green city. Its location near the historic city of Compiègne and its accessibility to the Paris metropolitan area attract many young professionals. The riverside quays and the extensive forest trails provide high-quality outdoor activities, from rowing to long-distance hiking.
