Audincourt is located in eastern France, in the Doubs department, and is part of the Montbéliard metropolitan area. The city's history is inextricably linked to industrialization and the Peugeot family, who established major factories here in the 19th century. Formerly a rural settlement, it quickly evolved into a hub for metalworking and automotive manufacturing. A modern architectural gem is the Sacré-Cœur Church, built between 1949 and 1951. It is world-famous for its stained glass windows by Fernand Léger and a mosaic by Jean Bazaine, making it a significant destination for art enthusiasts. Today, the city is undergoing structural changes, repurposing former industrial sites into cultural and leisure parks, such as the site of the former foundries. Its location on the Doubs River also gives opportunities for water sports and outdoor recreation.
