Korvatunturi is a prominent fell located in the Savukoski municipality of Finnish Lapland, situated directly on the border with Russia. Its name translates to 'Ear Fell,' referring to the distinctive shape of its three peaks, which resemble the ears of an animal. Geographically, the fell reaches an elevation of 486 meters above sea level and is located within the Urho Kekkonen National Park. In Finnish folklore, Korvatunturi is famously known as the mystical home of Santa Claus (Joulupukki), where he is said to hear everything children do across the world. Because the fell is located within the official border zone, civilian access is strictly regulated and requires a special permit from the Finnish Border Guard. The surrounding environment is characterized by pristine wilderness, tundra vegetation, and vast coniferous forests. The geological structure consists mainly of ancient bedrock shaped by millions of years of erosion.
